OM1 LC-ST Multimode Duplex Fibre Patch Lead

A duplex OM1 fibre lead with LC-ST connectors, made with 62.5 micron multimode (62.5/125) fibre. Duplex means two fibres side by side: one to send and one to receive, which is what switch and media converter ports expect. It supports Gigabit Ethernet runs to about 275 metres, with 10 Gigabit limited to very short links of around 33 metres. It is mostly used to extend, repair or re-patch networks that were originally installed with OM1 cabling, since mixing core sizes on one link causes heavy signal loss.

LC is the small push-and-click connector found on SFP and SFP+ transceivers, modern switches and high-density patch panels. ST uses a round bayonet twist-lock, still found on many established fibre installations. This lead joins the two types without a separate adapter. Orange has traditionally marked 62.5 and 50 micron multimode fibre.
