OS2 FC-LC Single Mode Duplex Fibre Patch Lead

A duplex OS2 fibre lead with FC-LC connectors, made with 9 micron single mode (9/125) fibre. Duplex means two fibres side by side: one to send and one to receive, which is what switch and media converter ports expect. It supports 1, 10, 25 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet over distances measured in kilometres, depending on the transceivers used. Single mode fibre links buildings across a campus, connects to carrier and ISP equipment, and is the standard for FTTP and long backbone runs.

FC has a threaded screw-on coupling that holds firmly against vibration, used on test equipment and some telecom gear. LC is the small push-and-click connector found on SFP and SFP+ transceivers, modern switches and high-density patch panels. This lead joins the two types without a separate adapter. Yellow is the standard jacket colour for single mode fibre.
