To connect between DVI and VGA requires eitther a DVI to VGA cable or a converter. If the DVI connector supports analogue (DVI-I or DVI-A) then a cable can be used. The cables will work in either direction so can also be used as a VGA to DVI cable. If the DVI connector is DVI-D digital only then an electronic converter must be used and these are directional.
