Choosing a fibre patch lead
Match the fibre grade to your cabling and transceivers. OM1 and OM2 are older multimode grades; OM3 and OM4 are laser-optimised multimode for 10G and faster links in buildings and data centres; OM5 adds wavelength division for 40G and 100G; and OS2 single mode covers long distances between buildings and to carriers.
Connectors
LC is the small connector used on SFP transceivers and modern switches. SC and ST are found on older equipment, wall outlets and patch panels. Choose the connector for each end, and keep multimode and single mode separate.
