Choosing a rack PDU
A rack PDU (power distribution unit) provides power outlets inside a server or network cabinet. Horizontal PDUs mount across the rack in 1U; vertical PDUs mount at the side or rear, leaving rack space free for equipment.
Choose UK sockets for equipment with ordinary plugs, or IEC C13 outlets for servers, switches and storage with C14 inlets, connected with C14 to C13 leads.
Input plug
The input lead decides the maximum load. A UK plug allows 13A from a wall socket, a C14 plug 10A from a UPS or C13 outlet, and a C20 plug or 16A commando plug up to 16A from a UPS or dedicated supply. Keep the total connected load within that rating.
